Northwest Equine Veterinary Associates
Client Resources
WHAT IF I CAN'T BE AT MY APPOINTMENT?
Our doctors travel with an assistant and they are perfectly capable of conducting your appointment if you cannot be there. We just ask that you let our office staff know exactly where your horse is located at the home or facility address and that your horse can be easily identified. It is also helpful if you can be reached by phone while your appointment is taking place in the event that the veterinarian needs to speak with you.
WHAT SHOULD I BRING TO MY APPOINTMENT?
We would greatly appreciate it if all new clients (and existing clients who have not filled out a new client registration form within the last year) could bring their completed new client registration form to their first appointment. In order to gain a better understanding of your horse's medical history, we also like to have any previous veterinary records sent to us prior to your appointment. If you are having one of our doctors out to perform a pre-purchase exam, our office must have the buyer and seller forms, along with two years of previous veterinary records for the horse being examined no less than 24 hours prior to the appointment.
DO I NEED TO PREPARE AN AREA FOR THE APPOINTMENT?
It is helpful to have an area for your appointment where the doctor and assistant can work that is well-lit and out of the elements. For dental exams, we need a level area for the horse to stand where there is also an overhead structural beam to throw a rope over. The beam will serve as a pulley for where we will attach the halter that assists in holding the horse's head up while the doctor performs the dental exam.
It is also very helpful for us to be informed of any particular information about the location that we should know of - such as a gate code, certain parking area, or special directions.
WHAT AREAS DO YOU SERVE AND WHAT IS A FARM CALL FEE?
We travel to most areas in Western Washington. The service area map below is a basic outline to give you an idea of how far we will go to see clients. There are special occasions where we will travel outside of our normal radius - just call our office to inquire about an appointment outside of our normal travel area. The farm call fee varies depending on how far we must travel to reach your facility. A farm call fee covers the cost to get our veterinarian out to your property or boarding facility where your horse is kept but does not include the exam fee or any diagnostics. If you prefer to avoid a farm call fee, you may haul into our clinic for a reduced rate.
